8th Grade
Tiger News
The word of the week is: KINDNESS
The Outsiders at EMHS: The 8th grade will be walking to
EMHS on Wednesday, Sept 12th, to see the Memorial
drama department perform The Outsiders. Please let us
know if you would not like your child to participate.
English: This week in English we are continuing to work on
the reading and writing process, which includes summarizing,
paraphrasing, finding the main idea and most relevant details.
We will have an assessment over these skills on Thursday and
Friday.
US History: This week should be a very exciting week in US
History as students will have the opportunity to investigate
the crime scene of the Boston Massacre! We will finish up
the week looking at all the different ways the colonists
resisted tighter British control, including protests, boycotts,
petitions, and countless other methods.
Pre-Algebra: We will be wrapping up our rules of exponents
unit and starting a new unit this week.
Geometry: We will move into the final part of our first unit
focusing on constructing congruent figures while utilizing
properties to prove congruence.
Science: This week we will be starting our inertia unit. We will
also start building balloon racers in class on Wednesday.
Students should be gathering materials and designing a
sketch of their racers before Wednesday.
Spanish: We will continue to work on our essential
questions, months and birthdays. Our new topics this week
will be how to say age and talk about the weather. Parents,
please encourage your child/children to study vocabulary
for a short time several times a week as we progress. It's so
easy to do on the chromebook. Also, review the essentials
questions with your student as often as possible. iGracias!
